Michael has been wanting to go clam digging for a loooong time now. Well, when I saw images of Suncheon Bay on a TV show, I thought this would be the perfect place to visit. We set out mid day on Friday and drove 4 and a half hours south to Suncheon Bay. It boasts one of the largest reed fields (i'm sure there is a scentific name for this) and one of the largest wildlife perservation areas. We walked through fields of reeds before climbing about 2 km up a mountain to take in the breathtaking view from above. It was after 6pm, and the sun was low. We saw many eager photographers race up to the observatory point to capture the brilliant light with their high tech cameras. We had our Sony Digital which didn't do the sight justice. We vowed to get a camera like Mark's;-). The wind was cold and brisk but it was well worth it. We are planning to go again in the summer or fall to see the variations in colours over the water and landscape. There are so many beautiful and unique places to see in Korea; We hope we can see much more of it before we leave.
