On Sunday we decided to hit the Fincance Centre for some Indian food at Ganga, and then stroll over to the Chungye Cheon, a stream that runs through the downtown core, and then to see the newly unveiled General Yi Soon Shin water fountain. I couldn't believe the sheer number of heads bobbing down the sidewalk and walkways as thousands of people came to do just what we were doing. Despite the crowds, the whole mall of the newly renovated Sejong Road was quite impressive and moving. A shallowfilm of water flows over a timeline of Korean history and eventually conncets to the Chongye stream. The water fountain around General Yi is fitting as he was the greatest Korean General to fight the Japanese at sea. On Korean Day, a new statue of King Sejong, the King who invented the Korean text will be installed down the mall in front of the Sejong Art Centre, which is also fitting.

These pictures bring back so many memories. It's too bad we left before all of this was unveiled. Something to look forward to on our next visit.
